Darleen + Ian had such a simple yet sweet elopement at Brasada Ranch, just a short drive from Bend and a photographers dream to shoot- full of endless mountain views and high desert landscape to roam through. We explored the property for a bit to grab some portraits, then walked over to the Trestle pond, where they chose to say their vows, with the Trestle bridge in the background and Cascade mountains in the distance as they looked out. This is one of my favorite Oregon wedding venues, and I’d be so thrilled to shoot a wedding here again!
Scroll down to view some of my favorite images I shot at their elopement. I even got to snap a few photos on her polaroid camera! This backard wedding in Bend Oregon was really special. Makayla and Nathan chose to get married at this property in Bend, connected to this beautiful field of flowers with a stunning view that they used as their ceremony backdrop. They wanted to keep their wedding intimate and simple, which I really enjoyed. Makayla and her bridesmaids got ready at the Sage + Honey Spa, then we headed up the road to the property for their ceremony and reception.
I’m a wedding and elopement photographer based in Bend Oregon, and I often travel to other parts of Oregon or the Pacific Northwest for weddings, so I loved not having to travel far to capture their wedding day. These two were also super photogenic, and I think their photos turned out wonderful. Take a look at some of their wedding photos below or check out my Instagram if you’re looking for backyard wedding inspiration, and reach out here if you’re on the search for an engagement and wedding photographer in Oregon!

Last fall, I adventured out to Todd Lake with my friends Chris and Alex for one of my favorite sessions to date. I always love when couples want to get creative for thier photos, and when they mentioned that they wanted most of their photos shot on film, I was even more excited to get out to this beautiful location. I already posted a blog with some of these images, but the film deserved a blog of its own. There are no camera stores in Bend, and not even Walmart carries film in town, so I usually order my rolls of film online. These images were all shot on Ilford HP5+, which is a 400 speed black and white film for the photo nerds out there and is usually what I bring out to shoot at weddings and engagement sessions.
What I love about film, specifically black and white film, is the timeless and classic quality it has. After seeing my parents wedding album, I wanted to offer this to couples on their wedding day, and eventually started offering this at sessions as well. Shooting film is what got me into photography, and so incorporating this into my engagement sessions has been really exciting!
I think Todd Lake is one of the best photo spots in Bend Oregon, especially for engagement photos. We went in the late fall and had the entire lake to ourselves! And after spending some time roaming along the trail, we (strategically) finished the session with some photos in the lake.
