Mike has been a childhood friend of mine for a while, growing up in Indiana together and somehow both ending up settling in Oregon. He and his now fiancé moved to Eugene recently, and when he mentioned that he was going to propose during a weekend ski trip to Hoodoo and wanted me to photograph it, I was so excited. I’ll be honest, I’m not much of a skier. Let’s just say there aren’t many mountains in Indiana to ski on… Okay fine, there are none. Of the handful of times I’ve skied in my life, this was the most memorable.
I met M + K and their friends up at Hoodoo Ski Resort for the proposal on a snowy morning. I was wondering how I was going to keep her from getting suspicious with all of my camera gear, but I probably would have brought some sort of camera anyways to take photos of the snow-capped mountains to keep as a personal memory. I definitely fell a few times, but my camera was wrapped up like a baby because I did not want to risk burying my camera gear in deep snow…
After a handful of runs and a pit-stop at the food truck for some soup dumplings, the five of us decided we would stop halfway down our next run at this scenic spot to take a group photo. Kaylee had no idea that the “group photo” was a cover up for the moment Mike was going to propose. She was so surprised, which I always feel relieved by when I’m the one taking the photos.
We ended the night in Sisters grabbing burgers and singing karaoke. All in all it was a wonderful day getting to hang with friends, and I really love how these photos turned out from my first ski proposal!

E + J’s Loloma Lodge wedding was such a dream to capture on Super 8. The authenticity of their wedding and vibrant pops of color paired so well with the soft focus and dreamlike grain of Super 8 film.
They started their day reading vows to each other in the forest and spent time roaming the secluded trail at Loloma before their intimate ceremony. E + J really appreciate the quality of film, so I could tell they were really excited to have their highlight video shot on Super 8. I loved how centered their wedding was around family and friends, and could tell they wanted as many candid and in-between moments documented as possible. There were lots of hugs, tears, laughs, and sentimental feelings throughout the day.
If you’re unsure of what your wedding highlight video would look like documented on Super 8 instead of digital, check out the highlight video above that I pieced together from E + J’s Loloma Lodge wedding day in Oregon.
Loloma is truly a dream venue and I cannot wait to create another super 8 highlight video there this fall. I’m linking their website because I just want everyone to get married there !!! https://www.lolomalodge.com/weddingsatloloma

S + J had such a sweet fall wedding at Brasada Ranch in Bend. Though I do travel a good amount to photograph weddings, I always love when I get to be the photographer at weddings close to home. Since moving to Bend Oregon, I’ve had the opportunity to document a handful of weddings, elopements, and engagement sessions at Brasada Ranch and it is truly a dream place to experience as a wedding photographer, considering I started my photo career focusing on landscapes instead of weddings.
The Barn at Brasada Ranch is such a cool space for weddings, and this was my first time photographing a wedding in that part of the property. S + J started their day getting ready in the cabins and condos available at Brasada, then headed down to the pond overlooking the seemingly famous Trestle Bridge for a first look. I really love when couples decide to incorporate a first look into their wedding day morning, because we had so much time afterwards to take some portraits up on the bridge. We wandered through the pathways and brush that Central Oregon is known for, and were even able to knock out family photos before the ceremony. Sho’s long veil blowing in the wind made for some really natural looking photos. I always try not to force anything when posing, but let weather do it’s thing, and embracing wind is one of my favorite things to create that authenticity I strive for when documenting weddings. Bend is known for being windy when you really don’t want it to be.
After their ceremony, since we had already knocked out the “posed” photos they wanted me to photograph, I got to spend time documenting moments they spent with their family and friends- the hugs, tears, laughs- photos that really matter in my opinion, before their reception. I could tell that S + J really valued time with their family at their wedding, so I wanted to make sure their photos reflected that. More candid photos and less detail shots, though I ended up getting carried away with both anyways. That seems to always happen when I photograph weddings.
